Ninh Binh Volunteer Club Turns Plastic Waste into Charity Funds

For more than 20 years, Vũ Quang Huy has led the Thanh Niên tình nguyện Lý Nhân club in Bac Lý district, Ninh Bình. Since he founded the club at age 20, the group has organized an annual “Huy đồng nát” campaign that collects roughly 90 tonnes of plastic waste each year from schools and community collection points.

The reclaimed plastic is sold to generate several hundred million Vietnamese đồng, which the club uses to sustain its activities and to fund charitable assistance for disadvantaged families. Around 100 volunteers, half of them permanent members, operate under a three‑tier management model to keep the program running continuously since 2013.
