Ninja to contest Missile Stakes at Randwick

Four‑year‑old gelding Ninja is set to resume racing in the Group 2 Missile Stakes over 1,200 m at Randwick on Saturday, his first start since an unplaced run in the Randwick Guineas. Trainer Michael Freedman said the horse’s recent physical and mental development makes the shorter sprint distance more suitable, though he has not ruled out a future mile attempt and a possible spot in The Everest later in the spring.

The field of eight includes multiple Group 1 placegetters such as Angel Capital and Napoleonic, providing a strong test of Ninja’s form ahead of any longer‑distance ambitions. Freedman highlighted the horse’s improved maturity after a spell in Queensland and a successful trial win at Randwick last month.
