Nino explains failed transfer talks with Palmeiras and Fluminense
Zenit defender Nino has detailed why recent transfer negotiations with Brazilian clubs Palmeiras and Fluminense failed. Speaking on Felipe Melo TV, the 29-year-old explained that Zenit initially refused to sell him until the club secured the national championship.
Palmeiras expressed interest in December 2025 but could not wait for the title, which was only decided in June. While Zenit later agreed to negotiate, they maintained strict financial conditions. Fluminense also made a strong proposal, but the negotiations stalled because the Russian club's demands exceeded Fluminense's financial ceiling.
Nino noted that a potential return to Brazil is heavily influenced by family considerations. He and his wife are prioritizing the development of their son, Antônio, who has Down syndrome, stating that living in Brazil could better support his speech and overall growth.
