Nintendo announces Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave for Switch 2, release set for Sept 17

Nintendo detailed its upcoming title Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave during a dedicated Direct presentation. The game will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 on 17 September 2026. Set in the Empire of Dagda, the story follows four protagonists—Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda—who must travel through time to prevent a cataclysmic resurgence of the god‑demon Balor. Players can switch between the heroes at any point, with each narrative branch saved separately. The title adds new strategic layers, including a “Heroic Games” tournament in the capital Dagsion, arena training, and temple blessings that grant temporary combat bonuses.

The announcement highlighted the game’s blend of tactical battles, time‑manipulation mechanics, and interwoven storylines, positioning it as a major new entry in the long‑running Fire Emblem franchise.
