Nintendo Switch 2 to see global price increase in September
Nintendo has announced a global price increase for the Nintendo Switch 2, effective September 1, 2026. In the United States and Canada, the suggested retail price will rise from $449.99 to $499.99. In Europe, the price will increase by 30 euros, moving from 469.99 to 499.99 euros.
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa attributed the adjustment to shifting market conditions, specifically citing increased costs for DRAM memory modules, logistics, and global exchange rate volatility. The company noted that these semiconductor and supply chain pressures are expected to persist for the medium-to-long term.
In a notable communication strategy, Nintendo is actively warning consumers of the upcoming hike through in-store kiosks and demo stations at major retailers like Walmart. This transparent approach, providing several months of notice, aims to encourage immediate purchases before the deadline, contrasting with the more sudden price adjustments seen from competitors like Sony.
