Nintendo Switch 2 price increases confirmed globally

Nintendo has confirmed a global price increase for the Switch 2, effective September 1, 2026. The price adjustments affect multiple major markets: in the United States and Canada, the console will rise to $499.99; in the Eurozone, it will increase to €499.99; and in the United Kingdom, the price will move from £395.99 to £419.99.

The company attributes these hikes to rising manufacturing, distribution, and component costs. Specifically, the cost of RAM has reportedly surged by approximately 41% due to high demand from artificial intelligence and data centers. NAND memory for storage has also seen cost increases. Nintendo has indicated it is absorbing some of these expenses to avoid passing the full cost increase to consumers.

Industry analysts note that these semiconductor and component shortages could impact hardware production through 2030. To mitigate the impact on consumers, Nintendo announced these changes well in advance, providing over 100 days of notice.
