Kirby and the World Beyond announced for Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo has announced Kirby and the World Beyond, a new 3D action-adventure game scheduled for release in spring 2027. The title was revealed during a September 2026 Nintendo Direct and is set to be a flagship launch for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Marking the 35th anniversary of the franchise, the game features a significant shift toward a more expansive, open-world experience. Players will utilize Kirby’s signature Copy Abilities for both combat and environmental traversal, such as using explosive powers to launch into the air or using a sword to climb trees. The gameplay trailer showcased Kirby exploring vast landscapes and encountering new characters, including a mysterious girl, while facing off against King Dedede.

Nintendo executive Yoshiaki Koizumi indicated that further details regarding the game and the franchise's anniversary celebrations will be shared in the future.
