Nintendo announces Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2

Nintendo has announced a full remake of ‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ for the Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for release on November 5, 2026. Unlike previous versions, this is a complete rebuild from the ground up rather than a port of existing data.

Key enhancements include full voice acting for event scenes involving characters such as Zelda and Ganondorf, while Link will maintain his traditional silent protagonist role. The game will feature modernized UI and controls inspired by ‘Tears of the Kingdom,’ including one-button equipment switching and a jump-and-dash mechanic. While the game is not a fully seamless open world, it utilizes an ‘open air’ design with a vast Hyrule Field and a day-night cycle system.

Retailers including Amazon, Rakuten Books, and Animate are offering various pre-order bonuses such as acrylic coasters and stickers. Additionally, Nintendo announced special 40th-anniversary hardware, including a themed Nintendo Switch 2 console and peripherals, as well as amiibo figures for Young Link and Young Zelda slated for 2027.
