Metroid Ravenous announced for Nintendo Switch 2
During a recent Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D side-scrolling adventure developed by MercurySteam. The title is set to launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027.
Serving as a follow-up to Metroid Dread, the game features a more visceral tone where Samus Aran must survive on an unknown moon by absorbing energy from her enemies. This new mechanic, described as an energy absorption system, may influence Samus's appearance, with trailers showing her in a glowing green suit.
To coincide with the release, Nintendo plans to launch new Amiibo figures, including a Samus Aran figure and a Chozo statue. A Special Edition will also be available, featuring a SteelBook and a third Samus Amiibo in her Metroid-themed suit.
