Nintendo announces Star Fox Adventures revival and Switch 2 update

During a Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 9, 2026, Nintendo announced that Star Fox Adventures is being added to the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics library. The 2002 action-adventure title, originally developed by Rare, is available immediately for subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Additionally, Nintendo revealed a free update for the recent Star Fox remake on Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for release on September 29 or 30, 2026. The update will introduce three new Battle Mode stages—Katina, Sector X, and Venom—and add support for split-screen play. The update will also allow up to four players to participate in online battles from a single console.
