Nintendo announces dual September Directs for Zelda 40th Anniversary and Switch 2

Nintendo has announced two consecutive digital showcases scheduled for September 2026. The first event, titled ‘The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct,’ is set for September 8 and is expected to last approximately 30 minutes. This presentation will celebrate four decades of the franchise and is anticipated to provide details on various initiatives, including the highly anticipated remake of ‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The following day, September 9, Nintendo will host a general Nintendo Direct lasting roughly 45 minutes. This second broadcast will focus on upcoming software for the Nintendo Switch 2, specifically targeting titles expected to launch in the winter of 2026. Following the general Direct, a ‘Nintendo Treehouse: Live’ broadcast will air, providing approximately 110 minutes of in-depth gameplay footage for selected titles.

While official details regarding specific game titles for the general Direct remain limited, the Zelda-focused event has generated significant interest due to its milestone nature and the potential for major franchise updates.
