Nintendo announces Zelda 40th Anniversary hardware and Ocarina of Time remake
Nintendo is celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise with the release of special edition hardware and a remake of the classic title, Ocarina of Time, for the Nintendo Switch 2. The Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 console, Pro Controller, and carrying case are scheduled to launch on October 29, 2026.
The Ocarina of Time remake is set to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. Retailers including Best Buy, GameStop, Nintendo New York, and Nintendo San Francisco have announced midnight launch events for the game.
Technical details for the remake suggest a significant file size of approximately 27 GB, which is larger than previous entries like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. While the hardware is currently seeing high demand and limited availability at major retailers, some regions, such as Mexico, have listed the special edition console for sale through Bodega Aurrerá.
