Nintendo prepares Zelda remake and Switch 2 anniversary edition
Nintendo is preparing for the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, scheduled for November 5, alongside a special 40th Anniversary edition of the Nintendo Switch 2 arriving October 29, 2026. Early details regarding the remake suggest an expanded map, including a larger Ice Cavern and additional structures near Kakariko Village and Castle Town.
However, the Zelda 40th Anniversary edition of the Switch 2 has faced criticism regarding its hardware design. Unlike the standard European model, which features a more repairable battery design, the Zelda collector's edition utilizes a non-removable battery for the end user, requiring technical disassembly to replace.
Separately, Nintendo issued an apology regarding a technical error in its Nintendo Today app during the Zelda 40th Anniversary celebrations. A quiz question concerning Bokoblin behavior in Breath of the Wild incorrectly penalized players who selected a valid answer, causing some users to miss out on digital rewards.
