Nintendo game cartridges and rare NES copies sell for thousands

Collectors are paying high prices for ordinary Nintendo cartridges that had limited production runs. A sealed Super Mario Bros. cartridge once fetched a seven‑figure sum at auction, and other titles such as Paper Mario (N64), Kirby’s Adventure (NES) and Worms Armageddon (N64) are estimated at €45‑75, €55‑110 and €75‑120 respectively.

A separate case highlighted a standard NES game that sold for several thousand euros because its original packaging retained an intact tab – a detail Nintendo stopped using in 1987. The rarity of the tab, combined with the game's condition, sparked strong interest among video‑game collectors and drove the high sale price.
