Nintendo games and hardware fetch high prices for collectors

While sealed, graded copies of iconic games such as Super Mario 64 have fetched millions at auction, even standard cartridges without original packaging can become valuable if they were produced in limited numbers.

In a separate personal story, a German Nintendo fan uncovered a stash of vintage handhelds and games while helping his parents clean out a storage shed. The find included a Game Boy Micro, Game Boy Color, Nintendo DSi, several Pokémon titles and a copy of Donkey Kong Country 3, together valued at around €1,000. The anecdotes illustrate how nostalgic hardware and games are increasingly sought after by collectors, driving a niche market for retro gaming memorabilia.
