Nintendo launches major US sale funded by $300M tariff refunds

Nintendo of America has launched a major Customer Appreciation Sale, offering 30 percent discounts on various digital games, bundles, accessories, and apparel. The promotion, running through September 26, 2026, is being funded in part by approximately $300 million in government tariff refunds.

The refunds follow a Supreme Court ruling that declared certain trade tariffs, previously imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, to be unlawful. While Nintendo had previously absorbed much of the cost of these tariffs by increasing consumer prices, the company is now utilizing a portion of the recovered funds to finance this large-scale promotional event rather than issuing direct individual payouts to customers.

In addition to the broad sale, specific deals are available for various titles and hardware. For example, the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is available for preorder with discounts at retailers like Walmart, and a new electronic Ocarina of Time collectible has been released. While the sale covers many Switch titles, it notably excludes Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and games.
