Nintendo raises price of licensed microSD Express cards

Nintendo has implemented a sudden price increase for its licensed 256GB microSD Express cards on the Nintendo Store. The price rose from 6,980 yen to 8,980 yen, effective August 17, without prior official notice.

This price adjustment comes amid rising semiconductor and storage costs. As of August 18, the SanDisk version of the card is sold out, while the Samsung version remains in stock. The increase is particularly notable given the large file sizes of modern software, which can range from dozens to nearly 100GB per title.
