Nintendo releases major free update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch 2

Nintendo has released a major free update, version 4.0.0, for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, specifically optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2. The update introduces several significant technical and gameplay enhancements for owners of the newer hardware.

A primary feature is the expansion of local multiplayer, which now supports up to eight players via split-screen on a single Nintendo Switch 2.
