Nintendo releases Star Fox update for Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo has released version 1.2.0 of Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2, a free update that introduces significant new content and gameplay features. Developed by Velan Studios, the update focuses heavily on the Battle Mode, adding three new stages: Katina, Sector X, and Venom, along with new items to appear during combat.

A major addition is the implementation of local split-screen multiplayer, allowing up to four players to compete on a single Nintendo Switch 2 console. This feature also enables players to participate in online random matches as a team using the split-screen function. Each player requires a separate controller, though Joy-Con 2 and standard Joy-Cons can be used in a horizontal grip.

The update also includes various improvements to Campaign and Challenge modes, such as visual adjustments to boss damage indicators and a confirmation dialog when abandoning a campaign. Additionally, several bug fixes address game crashes and freezing issues. Alongside the software update, the Star Fox soundtrack has been made available for streaming via the Nintendo Music app.
