Nintendo rumored to develop more affordable Switch 2 Lite

Speculation suggests Nintendo may be developing a more compact and budget-friendly version of its next-generation hardware, potentially titled the Nintendo Switch 2 Lite. While no official announcement has been made by the Kyoto-based company, technical analyses and patent observations point toward a new handheld device designed for mobile gaming.

The rumored hardware could utilize Samsung’s second-generation 8LPU+ manufacturing process, which is expected to be detailed at the International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM) in December. Compared to previous generations, this technology could offer a 12% performance increase, an 8% reduction in chip size, and 15% lower power consumption.

This Samsung-based solution would likely be more cost-effective than the NVIDIA Tegra T239 chip used in the standard Switch 2, making it a suitable candidate for an entry-level, handheld-only console.
