Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition adds new Blade M.O.M.O., outfits and Merc Assault mode

Nintendo announced that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be re‑released as a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The upgraded version launches digitally on 30 July 2026 and in retail on 1 October 2026. It runs at 4K / 60 fps in TV mode and 1080p / 60 fps in handheld mode, with smoother cutscenes.

New content includes the rare Blade “M.O.M.O.” from the Xenosaga series. The character can switch between Real Mode and Imaginary Mode, changing both appearance and elemental affinity (light or dark). New outfits are added for Homura, Hikari, Pyra and Mythra. A “Merc Assault” mode lets players directly control up to six Blades during missions, with each Blade’s special arts usable in real time.

Existing Switch owners can upgrade for ¥1,000, keeping their save data, while a standalone download costs ¥9,778 (the same as the physical package). The release is part of Nintendo’s broader strategy to bring flagship titles to its next‑generation hardware.
