Nintendo Switch 2 to receive new Sharp LCD panel to fix ghosting

Nintendo is preparing a hardware revision of the Switch 2 that replaces the launch‑model Innolux LCD with a new 7.9‑inch 1080p panel supplied by Sharp (model LS079T1SX10P). The updated panel features different circuitry, connectors and ribbon cables, indicating a substantial redesign rather than a minor tweak. Nintendo has not confirmed the change, but leaks suggest the new Sharp LCD aims to reduce the ghosting and slow response‑time issues that have been reported by handheld users.

The revision coincides with Nintendo’s rollout of a European‑market version that will allow users to replace the battery themselves, a change driven by upcoming EU regulations on replaceable batteries. At the same time, Nintendo has announced price increases for the Switch 2 effective 1 September 2026 in Europe, the United States and other regions, citing broader market conditions. The new screen is not an OLED upgrade; Nintendo says the switch to Sharp’s LCD is primarily to improve image quality while keeping component costs manageable.
