Nintendo Switch 2 dominates US video game hardware sales in June 2026

Famitsu released its weekly Japanese software sales for the week of 13‑19 July 2026, listing the top 30 titles. Leading the chart was Rhythm Heaven Groove on Nintendo Switch with 76,786 units sold, followed by eBaseball: Pro Spirit 2026 on PS5 and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Switch.

In the United States, total video‑game market spending reached $4.5 billion in June 2026, a 21 % decline year‑on‑year. Hardware spending fell 62 % to $383 million, driven largely by the Nintendo Switch 2, which remained the best‑selling platform in both units and dollars for the month and year‑to‑date. PlayStation 5 ranked second, while Xbox Series hardware sales more than doubled.

The data highlight Nintendo’s continued strength in software rankings in Japan and hardware dominance in the US market, despite an overall downturn in video‑game expenditures.
