Nintendo Switch 2 hardware to support high-end titles like Metroid Prime 4
New technical details have emerged regarding high-performance gaming on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Despite the console's hardware remaining less powerful than the PS5 or Xbox Series X, developers are achieving significant graphical results through optimization.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, developed by Retro Studios, is highlighted for its visual quality on the new hardware. In TV mode, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition reportedly runs in native 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, featuring enhanced lighting, sharper textures, and improved shadows compared to the original Switch version.
Additionally, Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will run on the Nintendo Switch 2. Bethesda's Assistant Graphics Director, Dan Lee, noted that the title is the first Unreal Engine 5-based open-world game for the platform. The development team successfully optimized the game to fit entirely onto a physical cartridge, a feat Lee expressed great pride in.
