Nintendo Switch 2 leads Japanese game sales week as Splatoon Raiders tops software chart
Japan’s weekly video‑game market for July 27 – August 2, 2026 showed the Nintendo Switch 2 continuing its dominance. The top‑selling software title was Splatoon Raiders on Switch 2 with 73,542 units sold, followed by Rhythm Heaven Groove (59,884) and the new entry Village in the Shade (21,965). Other notable releases included Tomodachi Life, two Prince of Tennis titles and Blue Reflection Quartet, each moving between 7,000 and 18,000 copies.
On the hardware side, the Switch 2 moved 30,606 units, outpacing the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition’s 9,412 units and the Switch Lite’s 4,325. The Switch OLED, standard Switch, and PlayStation 5 Pro also recorded sales, while Xbox models posted modest figures. Although the Switch 2’s weekly lead is clear, its cumulative sales still trail the PlayStation 5 family, which remains ahead in total units sold.
The data, supplied by Famitsu, highlights Nintendo’s strong position in the Japanese market and the continued relevance of its latest console generation.
