Nintendo Switch 2 to undergo global price increase on September 1

Nintendo is implementing a global price increase for the Nintendo Switch 2, effective September 1, 2026. In the United States, the MSRP will rise from $449.99 to $499.99. Similar hikes are scheduled for Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Nintendo cited “various changes in market conditions” as the primary driver for the adjustment. Industry analysts point to a shortage in consumer-grade RAM caused by the high demand for AI-related memory chips, alongside inflation and unpredictable tariff environments.

In the European Union, a new model featuring an exchangeable battery is expected to launch to comply with EU battery regulations. Regarding software, some publishers are providing full physical releases on cartridge for the new system, including Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, which will not require additional downloads.
