Nintendo Switch 2’s Mario Kart World sparks new gameplay and YouTube experiments

Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 console will launch Mario Kart World, a title that introduces a seamless course‑transition system called “Routes” or “Intermission Tracks.” The mechanic links neighboring tracks, allowing racers to move between them without a traditional menu, and supports a new “Knockout Tour” mode that features time‑based checkpoints.

Separately, two Canadian YouTubers have produced a 360‑degree interactive video that mimics playing Mario Kart on YouTube’s platform. Viewers can steer a virtual camera along Rainbow Road using keyboard controls, with on‑screen effects such as bananas and shells. The video offers selectable character subtitles and adjustable playback speed, though it remains a short, non‑interactive simulation.
