Nintendo to release Switch Sports Resort in October 2026

Nintendo is set to release “Nintendo Switch Sports Resort” on October 22, 2026. The title serves as a successor to the successful Wii-era sports series, bringing players back to the tropical setting of Wuhu Island.

The new installment features 12 confirmed sports disciplines and utilizes new functionalities of the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Notable new modes include “Thumb Wrestling,” a competitive single-player or multiplayer action mode where players use Joy-Cons vertically to simulate a thumb match, and “Skateboarding,” an exploration-focused mode that uses motion controls to navigate the island.

Unlike competitors focusing on high-end graphics and cinematic storytelling, Nintendo continues to emphasize motion-based gameplay and accessible social experiences through its unique hardware integration.
