Nintendo apologizes for underestimating Zelda remake demand
Nintendo has acknowledged that it underestimated global demand for the upcoming remake of ‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ and its associated 40th-anniversary hardware. Bill van Zyll, Vice President and General Manager for Nintendo Latin America, described the high interest as a ‘global phenomenon,’ noting that stock shortages for the special edition Nintendo Switch 2 and the game itself have occurred in multiple markets, including the United States and Brazil.
Nintendo is currently working on replenishing supplies for both the special hardware and software, though no specific restock dates have been provided. The company has asked fans for patience as they address the shortage.
The remake, scheduled for release on November 5, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2, features significant technical upgrades. Key improvements include a full visual overhaul, symphonic orchestral music, fully voiced cutscenes, and modernized camera and movement controls. The game will also offer customizable interface modes—Standard, Pro, and Master—allowing players to hide HUD elements for increased immersion. The digital version of the game is expected to require approximately 27 GB of storage space.
