Nintendo Zelda remake Direct reaches 2.1 million peak viewers

The Nintendo Direct presentation for the remake of ‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ achieved significant viewership, peaking at 2.1 million simultaneous viewers according to analysis firm LevelUp. This performance surpassed other major 2026 showcases, including Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, which reached 2 million viewers, and Sony’s September State of Play, which peaked at 1 million.

The game’s first trailer garnered 55 million views in less than 24 hours, trailing only the promotional content for ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’. The remake is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026, for the Switch 2.

Key updates for the remake include overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, and improved camera and movement controls. A special physical edition will be available featuring textured foil cover art.
