Nintendo Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake Direct reaches 2.1 million peak viewers
The Nintendo Direct presentation for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake achieved a peak of 2.1 million simultaneous viewers, according to analysis firm LevelUp. This makes it the second most-watched presentation of 2026, trailing only the Grand Theft Auto VI announcement which reached 4.1 million viewers.
In terms of trailer engagement, the first full trailer for the remake garnered 55 million views in less than 24 hours. While this is significant, it remains behind the 80 million views achieved by the Grand Theft Auto VI extended look in the same timeframe. Other major industry presentations, such as the PlayStation State of Play and Gamescom Opening Night Live, recorded lower peak viewership numbers.
Industry analysts suggest the high level of interest is driven by a combination of nostalgia and a growing fanbase. While the original N64 title sold 7.6 million copies, experts note that whether this massive media attention translates directly into sales remains to be seen, given the different gameplay structures compared to more recent Zelda titles.
