Niort Agglo invests €2.2 million in new wastewater plant

Niort Agglo has announced plans to invest approximately €2.2 million in the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud. The project aims to modernize aging infrastructure that has relied on a natural lagoon system since 1980.

The new facility will utilize an activated sludge treatment process and will be designed to handle a capacity of 1,700 equivalent inhabitants, an increase from the current 1,000. The existing lagoon system will be rehabilitated to manage bypass waters. This initiative is intended to meet regulatory requirements and reduce environmental impact on local areas, specifically the Canal de Forges.
