Japan sports: Nippon-Ham Fighters reach farm final; softball team wins 7th Asian Games gold
In Japanese baseball, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters advanced to the Farm Japan Championship final after a dramatic 7-6 walk-off victory against the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. Outfielder Daiki Asama secured the win with a walk-off infield single in the bottom of the 9th inning. The Fighters, who won the Eastern District, are now one win away from their first farm title since 1997.
In softball, the Japan women's national team secured their seventh consecutive Asian Games gold medal with a 7-0 victory over China. The tournament was highlighted by the performance of 44-year-old legendary pitcher Yukiko Ueno, who has competed in seven consecutive Asian Games since 2002, winning gold in every appearance. Japan maintained an undefeated record throughout the tournament to claim the championship.
