Nippon Ham Fighters farm team wins Farm Japan Championship
The Nippon Ham Fighters' farm team secured their second Farm Japan Championship title, marking their first victory in this tournament in 29 years. In the final stage held in Shizuoka, the Fighters defeated the Yomiuri Giants to claim the championship.
The Fighters established an early lead through a solo home run by Edpollo and an RBI single by Daiki Asama. Although the Giants attempted a comeback in the fifth inning after a series of walks by Nippon Ham pitcher Daiki Shimizu, reliever Daiki Kikuchi successfully navigated a high-pressure situation with runners on second and third to prevent further damage. Nippon Ham extended their lead shortly after with an RBI hit by Daigo Kamikawabata, ultimately securing a 5-3 victory.
Daiki Asama was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP) following strong performances in both the semifinals and the final. Fighters' farm manager Atsunori Inaba expressed his pride in the team's achievement and noted his desire to see the first-team manager, Tsuyoshi Shinjo, celebrated in the future.
