Nippon TV and Capcom Post Q1 Revenue Gains in Anime and Amusement Businesses

Nippon TV Holdings reported that its anime division posted a 23.4% year‑on‑year revenue increase to ¥2.048 billion in the first quarter, reaching its highest quarterly sales level. However, operating profit fell 32.3% to ¥528 million as the previous year’s hit title “薬屋のひとりごと” (The Apothecary’s One‑Word) saw a sharp decline. The company highlighted new anime releases slated for July and its participation in Anime Expo 2026. Its film segment performed strongly, with revenue up 27.8% to ¥1.194 billion and operating profit up 41.3% to ¥749 million, driven by the blockbuster “Detective Conan: Highway Angel,” which attracted 9.25 million viewers and ¥13.65 billion in box‑office earnings.

Capcom’s amusement‑facility business also posted a 20.6% revenue rise to ¥6.762 billion in the same quarter, surpassing internal targets. Operating profit slipped 4.4% to ¥899 million due to higher depreciation from new‑store investments. The company opened a new character‑goods and capsule‑toy shop in Saitama, expanded overseas with its first directly‑operated store in Taipei, and launched a new format in Osaka, boosting per‑visitor spend.

Both companies indicated that diversified retail formats and leveraging popular IP are key to sustaining growth despite short‑term profit pressures.
