Nippon‑Ham Fighters and Hanshin Tigers suffer home defeats in Japanese baseball

The Hokkaido Nippon‑Ham Fighters fell 1‑2 to the Saitama Seibu Lions on 10 October at ES CON Field Hokkaido after taking an early lead with a second‑inning two‑run double by Daiki Naramura. Pitcher Daichi Ito allowed one run in seven innings, and the Fighters could not score in the later innings, losing the first game of a three‑match series.

On the same day at Koshien Stadium, the Hanshin Tigers also lost 1‑2 to the Yakult Swallows. A defensive lapse in the fifth inning allowed Yakult to tie, and a solo home run by Akira Akabane in the sixth gave Yakult the lead. The defeat ended Hanshin’s brief winning streak and narrowed the gap to third‑place Yakult in the Central League standings.
