NIS modernizes industrial railway tracks at Pančevo Oil Refinery

Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) has completed a major modernization of the industrial railway tracks at the Pančevo Oil Refinery. The investment, valued at nearly 3.8 billion dinars, involved the complete reconstruction of existing tracks and the addition of five new ones, totaling 9,120 meters in length.

The project included the installation of 47 new switches, a 200-meter platform for inspecting and maintaining tank wagons, and 24 mobile walkways to ensure personnel safety. Additionally, the upgrade features new electrical installations, a comprehensive gas detection and fire suppression system, and a fully reconstructed drainage and water management system equipped with new purification separators.

These improvements are intended to increase logistical efficiency, enhance safety, and allow for higher axle load capacities, enabling the refinery to receive a larger number of tank wagons for loading and manipulation. The works, which began in February 2024, were carried out without interrupting the refinery's continuous traffic and derivative shipment processes.
