NIS2 directive mandates stricter network and information security
The European NIS2 directive imposes new requirements on network and information security, specifically targeting availability, redundancy, and structured incident management. These mandates impact critical areas such as telephony, site networking, and central system operations, which are often historically developed within medium-sized IT landscapes.
To meet these standards, companies are increasingly looking toward cloud telephony, SD-WAN concepts, and professionally managed data center environments to increase resilience and transparency.
The directive generally applies to medium and large companies across 18 regulated sectors, including energy, transport, healthcare, manufacturing, digital infrastructure, and ICT service providers. Typically, this includes organizations with more than 50 employees or an annual turnover exceeding ten million euros. Additionally, smaller companies acting as essential service providers or suppliers to regulated entities may also fall under the scope of the regulation.
