San Michele Bridge funding clarified by Lombardy officials

Lombardy regional official Claudia Maria Terzi has denied reports that European Union funding for the new San Michele Bridge between Calusco and Paderno d’Adda is at risk. Terzi clarified that no EU funds, such as the European Regional Development Fund, are currently allocated for the project. Instead, the infrastructure relies on 90 million euros provided by the Mit-Rfi Program Contract for 2022-2026, though additional resources will be required in the future.

In other regional developments, Francavilla Fontana has approved the use of over 360,000 euros to increase childcare service availability by covering the remaining 20% of costs for regional educational vouchers. In Niscemi, 150 million euros have been allocated for landslide safety and victim compensation, with 75 million dedicated to slope stabilization and 75 million for demolitions and indemnities.

Liguria is providing 700,000 euros to municipalities for the recovery of assets confiscated from organized crime. Meanwhile, in Ancona, nearly 30 million euros have been invested in school seismic upgrades. In Montefranco, over 273,000 euros are being used for urban redevelopment and hydrogeological safety. Finally, in Messina, officials warn of a potential funding stall for slum remediation as the 100-million-euro special fund nears exhaustion.
