Nishan Velupillay transfers from Melbourne Victory to FC Ingolstadt 04

Australian international Nishan Velupillay has completed a transfer from Melbourne Victory to the German third-tier club FC Ingolstadt 04. The 25-year-old offensive player joins the German side following a successful tenure in the A-League, where he made 141 senior appearances and scored 25 goals.

Velupillay, who represented the Socceroos at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressed excitement about the move, stating it was the right time to take the next step in his career. He noted his desire to help the Ingolstadt squad with his playing style and experience.

Melbourne Victory honored the departing player, who was the first person of Tamil heritage to play in a World Cup. During his time with the club, Velupillay helped secure the Australia Cup and reached consecutive A-League grand finals in 2024 and 2025.
