Nishant Kumar endorsed as potential Bihar CM by JD(U) leader

Devesh Chandra Thakur, a senior leader of the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), has endorsed Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar as a potential future chief minister for the state. Speaking to reporters in Sitamarhi, Thakur expressed hope that Nishant would follow in the footsteps of his father, former chief minister Nitish Kumar, who recently transitioned toward the Rajya Sabha.

Nishant Kumar, 45, entered active politics in March of this year. While initially reportedly reluctant to join the government led by Samrat Choudhary, he accepted the role of health minister following pressure from party leaders and workers. Thakur noted that while it is too early to assess Nishant's performance in his current cabinet position, he believes the minister has the potential to rise to the highest levels of public life.

JD(U) workers accompanying the minister during his visit to Sitamarhi also voiced confidence in his leadership, suggesting that Nitish Kumar's departure from the chief minister post has not left a leadership vacuum within the party.
