Nishu wins 53kg wrestling selection trial

Wrestler Nishu secured the 53kg category title at the national selection trials held at Indira Gandhi Stadium. Her victory earns her a final trial against Antim Panghal, who previously qualified for the Asian Games. The outcome of this upcoming match will determine who represents India at the Senior World Wrestling Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, scheduled from October 24 to November 1, 2026.

Under the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) selection policy, trial winners are granted the right to challenge Asian Games-qualified wrestlers for spots in the Senior World Championships.
