Nisida hosts first AC40 arrivals for America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta

The countdown for the America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta in Nisida, Naples, has begun. Following the arrival of the Swiss team Alinghi, the British team GB1 and the French La Roche-Posay Racing Team arrived with their AC40 vessels. The arrival of the three boats was complicated by strong winds and adverse weather conditions, requiring them to be transferred from a floating pontoon to the dock via crane.

Preparations for the boats to enter the water and begin navigation are set to commence. The schedule for upcoming arrivals includes Emirates Team New Zealand delivering containers, the arrival of two AC40s for the Preliminary Regatta on Wednesday, and the American Racing team on Thursday. The Italian team Luna Rossa is currently preparing at the Cantieri Palumbo base, with their two AC40 boats scheduled to arrive in Nisida on September 14. This regatta serves as the second official event in the lead-up to the 2027 America’s Cup.
