Nissa Rugby and Rugby Palermo form joint Serie B franchise

Nissa Rugby and Rugby Palermo have announced a formal alliance to create a unified franchise for the upcoming Italian Serie B rugby championship. This partnership aims to strengthen Sicilian rugby by integrating senior competitive play with a robust youth development program.

To ensure regional inclusivity, the new franchise will alternate its home matches between Caltanissetta and Palermo. The initiative seeks to retain local talent within the region, preventing young players from moving to northern Italian clubs for university and sports development. Nissa Rugby President Giuseppe Lo Celso and Rugby Palermo President Stefano Massari emphasized that the project builds on existing youth collaborations to create a sustainable long-term model for the sport in Sicily.
