Nissan and Honda partner to develop software for next-gen vehicles
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. have entered into a joint development agreement to standardize technologies for next-generation software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The partnership focuses on unifying electronic control units (ECUs), in-car operating systems, middleware, and vehicle control software.
By harmonizing these core electronic and electrical architectures, both companies intend to reduce development costs, improve investment efficiency, and accelerate research and development cycles. The jointly developed technology is expected to be implemented in their respective vehicle models starting in fiscal year 2029.
