Nissan and Tesla implement new pricing and product strategies across global markets

Automakers are implementing various pricing and product strategies across the Asia-Pacific and North American markets.

In Australia, Nissan has significantly reduced prices for its Ariya electric SUV by up to $15,000. Meanwhile, Nissan is expected to reveal an electrified addition to its lineup on October 8, which is speculated to be the Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid (PHEV) ute or a Terrano SUV. The Frontier Pro, developed through a joint venture with Dongfeng, features a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and is being tested for regional conditions in Australia and New Zealand.

Tesla is also adjusting its market approach. In India, Tesla has surpassed 1,000 Model Y deliveries within 13 months, recently overtaking Mercedes-Benz India in the luxury electric passenger vehicle segment. In Australia, Tesla is offering nearly $3,000 off in-stock Model Y vehicles, alongside trade-in bonuses. In Canada, a Chinese-built Model 3 Premium is available for under $30,000 USD due to specific import tariff rates, though it features a smaller battery pack compared to American models.

Additionally, the Nissan X-Trail Rock Creek has launched in Australia with rugged styling, though it currently lacks the e-Power hybrid option available in New Zealand.
