Nissan NX7 electric SUV unveiled with LiDAR and dual powertrains
Dongfeng Nissan, the joint venture between Nissan Motor and Dongfeng Motor, released official images of the NX7, a new compact electric SUV for the Chinese market. The model sits below the larger NX8 in the N series, featuring split headlights, a floating roof, semi‑hidden door handles and a roof‑mounted LiDAR unit that signals advanced driver‑assist capabilities.
The NX7 is expected to be offered in two powertrain variants: a fully battery‑electric version and an extended‑range (EREV) version that uses a small gasoline engine to recharge the battery. Early specifications suggest a 73 kWh LFP battery delivering a CLTC range of about 625‑635 km and a motor output of up to 272 hp. Pricing is projected to be lower than the NX8, which starts at 159,900 yuan.
The launch follows strong sales growth for the N series, which recorded 9,316 units sold in June and 33,590 units in the first half of 2026, indicating Nissan’s expanding presence in China’s fast‑growing EV market.
