Effective 1 June 2026, new rules for the French certificates of energy savings (CEE) increase public subsidies for electric light commercial vehicles assembled in Europe. Nissan announced that its Townstar EV and Interstar‑e can receive up to €6 094 and €9 786 respectively, plus a €2 500 manufacturer discount, bringing pre‑tax prices to €14 390 and €25 590 – lower than comparable diesel models for the first time. Renault reported similar CEE amounts, with €6 160 available for its Kangoo E‑Tech and R4 models that meet the weight criteria. The combined incentives can exceed €12 000 per vehicle, aiming to accelerate adoption of electric vans in the French market.

Only vehicles built in Europe qualify for the enhanced CEE; models produced elsewhere remain subject to minimal subsidies and are not financially competitive under the new scheme.
