Nissan former employees in Morelos seek retraining after plant closure
Following the closure of the Nissan plant in Morelos earlier this year, approximately 100 to 150 former employees are seeking to reinvent their professional lives through specialized training provided by the Institute for Work Training of the State of Morelos (Icatmor).
Verónica Morales Hernández, director of Icatmor, reported that former workers are participating in business planning courses and technical training in various trades. High-demand areas include bakery, pastry, carpentry, gardening, electronics, and food and beverage preparation.
A significant concentration of these individuals is located in the municipality of Tlaquiltenango, where about 50 former employees joined programs following a call for applicants coordinated with local economic development authorities. Some participants have already successfully launched independent businesses, such as bakeries and workshops, within their communities.
