Nissan invests in Sunderland plant for Kicks and Leaf production
Nissan is ramping up production at its Sunderland plant in the United Kingdom following technical delays with the third-generation Leaf. While production of the new Leaf model began last December, technical issues caused a several-month slowdown in output. The new model features a crossover design with battery options of 52 kWh and 75 kWh.
In addition to the Leaf, Nissan has announced plans to invest £170 million to produce the Nissan Kicks at the Sunderland facility. The Kicks is a compact crossover equipped with e-POWER hybrid technology and will be manufactured alongside the Qashqai, Juke, and Leaf. The Kicks marks the tenth model to be produced at the Sunderland plant since it opened in 1986.
